LAKEWOOD, CA, FOR RENT, FOR LEASE
Lakewood is classic Americana personified and along with Levittown, New York, is the
archetypal post-World War II American suburb. Developers Louis Boyar, Mark Taper and Ben
Weingart are credited with "altering forever the map of Southern California". The completion of
the developers' plan in 1953 helped in the transformation of mass-produced residential rental
properties from its early phases in the 1930s and 1940s, to the reality of the 1950s. The feel of
this transformation from the point of view of a resident growing up in Lakewood was captured by
D. J. Waldie in his award-winning memoir, Holy Land: A Suburban Memoir. Notable for renters
is that Lakewood is also the home of the first Denny's Restaurant!
Lakewood is not rent controlled and is bordered by Long Beach on the west and south,
Bellflower on the north, Cerritos on the northeast, Cypress on the east, and Hawaiian Gardens
on the southeast. Lakewood's primary thoroughfares are mostly boulevards with landscaped
medians, with frontage roads on either side in the residential districts housing its duplex, triplex
and multifamily properties. Unlike in most similar configurations, however, access to the main
road from the frontage road is only possible from infrequently spaced collector streets. The
major thoroughfares to take into consideration for your next multifamily property rental include
Lakewood (SR 19), Bellflower, and Del Amo Boulevards and Carson and South Streets.
Additionally The San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) runs through the city's eastern regions.
Long Beach airport is only 5 miles away and Los Angeles airport is only 22 miles away.
Lakewood was the first city in the nation to contract for all of its municipal services when
it incorporated as a municipality in 1954, making it the nation's first "contract city." Many other
Los Angeles suburbs, such as Cerritos and Diamond Bar, have adopted the "Lakewood Plan."
Smart renters will make their next rent of a duplex, triplex, fourplex and multifamily property with
us near one of the city’s major employers who earn a median income of $72,000: Long Beach
Unified School District, Lakewood Regional Medical Center, The City of Lakewood, Los Angeles
County Department of Children and Family Services and Bellflower Unified School District.
Residential rental properties for rent are always a great choice because of nearby
schools in one of its four school districts: Larchmont, Paramount, Bellflower and ABC Unified.
Several of its nearly 81,000 citizens created a group called "The Lakewood Unified School
District Organizing Committee," which aims to establish a "Lakewood Unified School District".
Popular community events enjoyed by residents of multifamily properties include Pan
American Fiesta, Patriot Day, Concerts in the Park, the Block Party and Halloween Carnivals
that bring Lakewood residents together and create a sense of community in our sometimes
fast-paced and busy world. There is also a range of "family fun" events specifically created for
families to gather and enjoy any event or activity as a group. So rent a piece of Americana and
rent your next duplex, triplex, fourplex and multifamily property in Lakewood.
