Silver Lake is a neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles and is a great place
to rent multifamily, duplex, triplex, fourplex and larger commercial apartment properties. Its job
industry, conveniences, and attractions make this a great place to live and there is a good
market available to rent multifamily rental properties such as duplexes, triplexes, and
fourplexes. Since Silver Lake is in the city of Los Angeles, there is rent control, unless the
building falls under one of the exceptions, which are listed under the definition of "Rental Unit" in
Silver Lake’s population was 35,953 as of 2012. The estimated median household
income in 2011 was $59,500, which is higher than the Los Angeles median and the California
median which was $57,287 in 2011.
Silver Lake, known as one of "the city's hippest neighborhoods", has many bars,
nightclubs and restaurants. Because so many alternative bands call Silver Lake home, it's not
surprising to find cutting-edge music stores around every corner. A neighborhood mainstay with
lots of used CDs, collectible disks, and new releases is Rockaway Records. Vintage clothing
is another big draw in these parts. The most reliable yet eclectic selections to browse through
are at Ozzie Dots, Pull My Daisy, Squaresville, and Circle. For vintage furnishings, Rubbish and
Soap Plant/Wacko/La Luz de Jesus Art Gallery are great stores.
The city also enjoys being close to a variety of conveniences. The nearest major airport
is Bob Hope Airport (BUR). This airport has domestic flights from Burbank and is 12 miles from
the center of Silver Lake. The Silver Lake Medical Center is the local hospital. There are also
many colleges and universities around Silver Lake, the biggest being the University of Southern
California with 30,578 full time enrolled students 7 miles away.
Silver Lake has many attractions, the most popular of which is Sunset Blvd., where the
amount of boutiques and restaurants will keep you busy for days. Some notable places to check
out are Intelligentsia, Cafecito, Old Style Guitar Shop, Naturewell, Mohawk General Store,
Barkeeper, Spice Station, Flore, Tacos Delta, Secret Headquarters, and Vacation Vinyl. Also a
top attraction is the Silver Lake Reservoir where one can take a two-mile stroll around the water
to see great views of the bungalows and a couple of Richard Neutra houses tucked into the
Silver Lake Hills.
All of these features make Silver Lake a great place to rent multifamily rental properties
such as duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes and larger commercial apartment buildings. This vibrant,
diverse community has great attractions, a healthy work industry, and many renters. The density
of the city and the desire for people to live here, make it an ideal location for multifamily living
and the city does have great duplex, triplex, and fourplex properties.
