South El Monte is in the western San Gabriel Valley region located in Los Angeles

the center of South El Monte. Another major airport is Long Beach Airport (LGB), which has 

domestic flights from Long Beach and is also 27 miles away. Their local hospital is the Greater 

El Monte Community Hospital. There are also a number of universities and colleges near South 

El Monte, the biggest being the University of Southern California with 30,578 full time enrolled 

students only 7 miles away.

South El Monte has many attractions, mainly recreation facilities and parks for 

community members and visitors to utilize and enjoy. Some of these are the Senior Center, 

Community Center, Mini Center, Aquatics Center, Mary Van Dyke Park, New Temple Park, 

Shively Park and Thienes Gateway Park. Whittier Narrows is a 1,492-acre park located in the 

City of South El Monte and is one of Los Angeles County’s largest and most popular recreation 

areas. The Whittier Narrows Nature Center is a 400-acre sanctuary of riparian woodland, 

features four lakes, including many plants and animals native to wetland communities. 

All of these features make South El Monte a great place to rent multifamily rental 

properties such as duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes and larger commercial apartment buildings. 

This vibrant, diverse community has great attractions, a healthy work industry, and many 

renters. The density of the city and the desire for people to live here, make it an ideal location
