away. They have two local hospitals Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital and Whittier Hospital
Medical Center, which also happen to be the top to employers in the city with 2,600 and 850
employees respectively. Higher education institutions in the area include Rio Hondo College,
which lies just outside the city, and historic Whittier College.
Whittier has many attractions, including Pio Pico State Historic Park, home of the last
Mexican Governor of California. Whittier also has four Historic Residential District including
Hadley/Greenleaf District, Central Park District, College Hills District, and Earlham Historic
