Whittier is located in Los Angeles County and is a great place to rent multifamily, duplex,

triplex, fourplex and larger commercial apartment properties. Its job industry, conveniences, and

attractions make this a great place to live and there is a good market available to rent

multifamily rental properties such as duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes. There is also no rent

control in Whittier.

Whittier’s population was 86,177 as of 2012. The estimated median household income in

2011 was $69,106 (it was $49,256 in 2000). This is higher than the California median which was

$57,287 in 2011.

The area centered around Philadelphia Street and Greenleaf Avenue is known as

Uptown Whittier and contains the traditional central business core. The Whittwood Town Center

(formerly the Whittwood Mall) anchored by JC Penney, Target, Sears, Vons, and Kohl's has

made way for Red Robin and Carino's Italian. The city still waits to attract more well known

businesses and open new residential town homes with the revival of its Uptown district.

Whittier's Redevelopment Agency has numerous projects underway to revitalize the community.

This includes a $7 million project near historic Hoover Hotel.

The city also enjoys being close to a variety of conveniences. The nearest major airport

is Long Beach Airport (LGB), which has domestic flights from Long Beach and is also 22 miles

away. They have two local hospitals Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital and Whittier Hospital

Medical Center, which also happen to be the top to employers in the city with 2,600 and 850

employees respectively. Higher education institutions in the area include Rio Hondo College,

which lies just outside the city, and historic Whittier College.

Whittier has many attractions, including Pio Pico State Historic Park, home of the last

Mexican Governor of California. Whittier also has four Historic Residential District including

Hadley/Greenleaf District, Central Park District, College Hills District, and Earlham Historic

District. The Whittier Historical Society and Museum offer an archives room, ongoing programs

and tours.

All of these features make Whittier a great place to rent multifamily rental properties

such as duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes and larger commercial apartment buildings. This vibrant,

diverse community has great attractions, a healthy work industry, and many renters. The density

of the city and the desire for people to live here, make it an ideal location for multifamily living

and the city does have great duplex, triplex, and fourplex properties.
