There are also many colleges and universities around Silver Lake, the biggest being the University of Southern California with 30,578 full time enrolled students 7 miles away.

Silver Lake has many attractions, the most popular of which is Sunset Blvd., where the amount of boutiques and restaurants will keep you busy for days. Some notable places to check out are Intelligentsia, Cafecito, Old Style Guitar Shop, Naturewell, Mohawk General Store, Barkeeper, Spice Station, Flore, Tacos Delta, Secret Headquarters, and Vacation Vinyl. Also a top attraction is the Silver Lake Reservoir where one can take a two-mile stroll around the water to see great views of the bungalows and a couple of Richard Neutra houses tucked into the Silver Lake Hills.
